Quickly identify and resolve common issues encountered while working with the Bosch MEVD17.2.9 control unit.
Processor ID incorect
This error occurs during cloning attempts when critical data segments are mismatched between the donor and old backup files.
View Solution →Failed to connect
A communication timeout or ECU lockout prevents the OBD interface from establishing a handshake with the module.

Processor ID incorect
Method: OBD & BENCH
Issue: You are unable to complete a cloning procedure because the Processor ID does not match the expectations of the flasher.
- Open the donor file you intend to clone.
- Locate and copy the data from address 0x14000 to 0x1FFFF.
- Locate and copy the last 16 bytes of the donor file.
- Paste these specific segments into your old backup file before attempting the write.
To understand more
The Processor ID and security signatures are often stored in specific memory offsets. By manually aligning the OTP (One Time Programmable) or hardware-specific sectors from the donor to your backup, you ensure the internal checksums and ID checks pass during the Bench or OBD write process.
Failed to connect
Method: OBD
Issue: The bFlash interface is unable to establish a stable communication link with the ECU via the OBD port.
- Disconnect the bFlash tool from the vehicle.
- Close all doors and lock the car.
- Wait at least 5 minutes for the vehicle's CAN bus and ECU to enter sleep mode.
- Unlock the car, reconnect the tool, and try the operation again.
To understand more
Modern BMW gateway modules can sometimes block diagnostic requests if too many attempts are made or if the bus is "noisy." Power cycling the ECU by letting the car go to sleep resets the communication buffers and clears temporary security lockouts.
Files not found
Method: OBD / Recovery: BENCH
Issue: An OBD read or write failed because the required support files are missing from the online database.
- Switch from OBD to BENCH mode to perform a full read of the ECU.
- Save the resulting file to your computer.
- Contact our technical support by sending the file to support@bflash.eu.
- Our team will add your specific software version to the server for future use.
To understand more
OBD protocols often rely on virtual reads or specific bootloaders cached on our servers. If you encounter a new software revision, a Bench read provides the complete binary data required for our engineers to map the file and enable full OBD support.
